Who needs carbohydrates?

In my opinion, low-carb is really one of the best dietary methods among all diets, in terms of both its efficacy and the general health effects on the body. So, I am also in favor of reducing or adjusting the carbohydrate intake outside of a diet!

Why?

The greatest positive effects of a low-carb diet or diet, especially for weight-loss, are:

  1. The body and its metabolism can work again in a physiological normal balance as intended by nature.

This gives the body the opportunity to use sugar and fats from food as well as from the depots relatively evenly distributed throughout the day. Therefore, it is never really possible to run the risk of accumulating pathologically excess weight despite sufficient and satisfying meals!

But why can the body work in a more balanced manner without carbs?

This is because we eat carbohydrates mainly in a refined form.

This is very problematic for the body, because it cannot tell this kind of carbohydrates from nature and therefore has no "program" on how to deal with them.

This causes the blood sugar level to increase unnaturally and uncontrollably.

However, since maintaining the blood sugar level within the normal limits is very important for our health and fitness, we are form the nature "apparelled" that the body do everything in our power to ensure a permanently normal blood sugar level—to ensure a constant energy level on the one hand and avoid a permanently high blood sugar level on the other hand.

Because, a high blood sugar level is downright poisonous in the long term for the body, its organs, its blood, and its blood vessels!

That's why the body releases large amounts of insulin. Insulin has the main characteristic of ensuring the fastest and best possible sugar utilization.

Every living being is aligned by nature to live and survive, even with handicaps.

This results in an extremely serious problem with weight-loss and the avoidance of weight gain—because at the same time insulin has the unfortunate side effect of severely inhibiting fat burning (depending on how much insulin was released), as well as storing all fats that are currently circulating in the blood in fat deposits!

Why is it doing this?

The problem is that nature does not know any intermediate stages; it knows only bright and dark and not a little less bright or less dark. Therefore it "works" according to the all-or-nothing principle.

That is why the body accepts the loss of its own appearance and mobility—i.e. weight gain—rather than accepting the minimal risk of damage caused due to high sugar quantities.

Since this process occurs quite often, a steady increase in weight as well as an inhibition of the correct fat-burning occurs for this reason alone!

Why, therefore, both an excessively high insulin level - and above all, a fast and most effective decrease... AND the prevention of further weight gain (by almost complete focusing of the body on the sugar utilization and ignoring of fats in the blood as well as in the depots) exclude each other for the most part.

2. The next disadvantage is that a permanently high intake of carbohydrates—especially refined carbs—as time goes by on two different levels for an increased inflammation reaction of the body can provide.

Thus, indirectly the calorie consumption can moderately to strongly restrict and act as a protective mechanism against inflammations caused by water accumulation.

How exactly does this happen?

On the one hand, the intestinal flora can decay. As the name suggests, permanent putrefaction processes in the intestine are anything but healthy and cause inflammation throughout the body due to their toxic and irritant effects.

Why?

If there is a surplus of carbohydrates over a longer period of time, in the worst case the pathogenic microbes such as putrefactive bacteria and fungi (which are always present in the normal physiological intestinal flora) can drag strongly from it  and thrive very well.

In the course of time, they multiply to such an extent that at some point, they may become an overwhelming majority, even as the physiological intestinal flora is pushed back and eliminated more and more!

Therefore, the health-promoting intestinal flora can tilt towards the putrefactive flora, which is why the ingested food is no longer digested or utilized but rather fermented!

If you know something about fermentation processes, you will know that many toxins and especially acids (e.g. lactic acid) are produced from them.

On the other hand, because of carbohydrates, there is a simultaneous lack of ionized minerals for additional acids and thus for increased inflammatory reactions all over the body and over-acidification of the entire body!

Why?

The ingested carbohydrates—usually refined and not complex carbohydrates—can be used very quickly, thus ensuring a high activity of the cell metabolism.

Not only that, the whole thing could have been advantageous, because the body would have, faster and more energy, but unfortunately this is not the case because every (cell) metabolic process generates "dirt" in the cells in the form of acids and toxins.

As described on the page Still water & ionized minerals, these acids and toxins are anything but beneficial for weight reduction.

Instead, these substances are so bad that they cause an additional increase in weight through water retention and prevent you from losing weight effectively, even with low kcal intake at the same time low; keyword: weight-loss plateau!

3. The last reason a low-carb diet is worthwhile—at least temporarily—to lose weight quickly and effectively is that due to the excessive renunciation of carbohydrates, one is forced to ingest considerably more proteins via food. This, in turn, has a very positive effect on fat-burning!

Due to the sudden increase in protein consumption, many people are—for the first time—able to meet their daily protein requirements, and even overcompensate!

This is very useful for the body, especially for slimming, because the body no longer has to access its own protein reserves, mainly its muscle tissue, in order to form its hormones or antibodies, which are needed for a stable immune system and to keep the body balanced and fit!

Therefore, is this a huge advantage!

In this way, a yo-yo effect is effectively avoided since the surplus protein possesses effected of ensuring on the one hand that the existing muscle tissue is not "attacked" and on the other hand that the body has sufficient new proteins/amino acids.

This makes it possible for it to condense existing muscles and build them up even more by everyday movement and any kind of muscle activity!

By these processes, one maintains as far as possible one’s individual basal metabolic rate and calorie consumption of the body, which greatly reduces the risk of a yo-yo effect in the short or long term after a diet!

Side note:

Something that has to be taken into account: When you lose body fat and body water, you naturally ALWAYS reduce your basal metabolic rate and therefore your calorie requirement, but it's different from losing muscle mass.

Muscles burn considerably more calories than the lost fat tissue.

Due to this, you would look almost identical even with a renewed increase in weight, since the fat would again spread in the usual regions of the body; however, with a strong loss of musculature, this would not be the case!

That is why you should always take enough protein and make sure that your muscles are preserved!

Another point to be noted:
Of course, carbohydrates and refined carbohydrates are not bad per se; on the contrary, they are a really great thing and are part of the joie de vivre.

Like everything else in life, however, their consumption should be balanced, both in terms of the frequency and in alternation with sufficient mineral foods or supplements that should be taken, so that the metabolism is not harmed and the body does not become ill.
